Abstract

Efficiency in Brackets and Aligners: New Challenges in Orthodontics

In today's orthodontics we have different orthodontic systems such as brackets and aligners. 3D diagnosis helps us to be able to decide more accurately the treatment plan for our patients and to obtain more successful results. However, the road we have to travel is sometimes a long one, so we need to apply the most efficient systems in order to reduce treatment time. Therefore, we have to ask ourselves the following question: Are we currently applying efficiency in our orthodontic treatments? In the following lecture I will try to explain how efficiency is applied to our conventional orthodontic, lingual and aligner treatments. I will also differentiate between effectiveness and efficiency through biomechanics with or without mini-screws (TADS), in the different systems. Our current orthodontic challenges through the application of efficiency and artificial intelligence must take into account the biological factors that are not modifiable at the moment and that must be the fundamental pillars on which we must plan our orthodontic treatments.
